Zarif Abrar, Mehedi Hasan Alve, Mahad Bin Malek and Hanif Munna booked their places in the semi-finals of the men’s singles event of the National Tennis Competition after beating their respective rivals at the Ramna Tennis Complex in the city on Wednesday.

In the quarter-finals, Zarif beat Biplob Ram by 6-1, 6-2 sets, Alve beat Milon Hossain by 6-4, 6-0 sets and Malek defeated Tanvir Moon Tushar  by 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 sets.


Hanif was adjudged the winner of other game as his opponent Dipu Lal retired from the game.

A total of 165 competitors from 21 organisations, including club, school, and district teams, are taking part in the competition, organised by the Bangladesh Tennis Federation.

The participants split into two groups—men and women—are competing in four separate events—men’s and women’s singles and men’s and women’s doubles - in the six-day long competition that will end today.
