
A fire broke out in a multi-storey building in the capital’s Purana Paltan area on early Monday, but was brought under control quickly with the efforts of the fire service.
The fire started at about 6:55am in an office room on the 6th floor of the 10-storey building.
Responding to the emergency, five units from the Siddik Bazar Fire Station reached the scene at about 7:01am and managed to bring the blaze under control by 7:18am.
According to Khairul Islam Rony, an official from the fire service’s media cell, the fire was fully extinguished at about 8:08am.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately known.
