The amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Shafiqur Rahman at a programme in Dhaka on Monday called on the political parties to remain united for the sake of the national interests. 

‘We will be successful to build a democratic and humane country if we remain united for the sake of the national interests, forgetting party interests,’ Shafiqur Rahman said while speaking at the publication ceremony of a book on the life of former Jamaat central leader Abdus Subhan at the National Press Club.


Shafiqur said that Subhan had faced injustice and repressions of fascist Awami League government and died in prison. ‘But, he never became afraid and nervous.’

Special assistant to the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, writer of the book titled titled Maulana Abdus Subhan: Trinamool Theke Shirshe Ali Ahmed Mabrur, Shamim Sayeedi and Barrister Najib Momen, among others, spoke at the publication ceremony.
